Lush Colour Supplement in Light Yellow Review

Every time I pass by Lush, I can't help myself but to come in and take a sniff and drool over their delicious collection of handmade products. Recently, I've been noticing some new products and what really caught my attention is their Colour Supplement Line.

Lush Colour Supplement in Light Yellow
Price: Php 525 / 16 USD
Store: Lush, Edsa Shangri-la

According to Lush:

Multi-purpose base colour. Blend it wit your moisturizer to create your ideal tint. Use it straight for perfect coverage.

Contains:  Fresh Rose Petal Infusion (Rosa damascena) , Soya Oil (Glycine Soja) , Titanium Dioxide , Rice Bran (Oryza sativa) , Stearic Acid ,Talc , Glycerine , Triethanolamine , Cetearyl Alcohol , Tudor Oak Color (Iron Oxides & Talc), Tudor Mahogany Color (Iron Oxides & Talc) , Methylparaben , Propylparaben

PROS:
  • feels light on the skin
  • very blend-able
  • even outs your skin tone
  • can be added to your daily moisturizer or sunscreen to have a little coverage (DIY tinted moisturizer)
  • use alone if you have oily skin
  • use as a face primer/base
  • build-able coverage (light to medium)
  • perfect for summer as it blends in your skin as the day goes on
CONS:
  • not enough coverage for those with pimple scars and blemishes
  • camera flashback (ghostly/white appearance in flash photography)
  • a bit drying if not mixed with moisturizer (for those with dry skin)
  • pores are still visible
  • very limited color range
  • oxidizes after a while
  • contains Methylaparaben and Propylparaben
before and after 2 layers

I got the Light Yellow shade as the sales lady insisted that this is the perfect shade for me (NC 25) in which I do agree. As you can see on the before picture, I have visible red vains, pimple marks, and blemishes. Upon application, it does have a heavy creamy consistency. A slight olive scent is noticeable while it spreads smoothly. I first tried using it on it's own one day and mixed with moisturizer the next. I used my fingers in both applications.

On its own, it seems to be a little bit too heavy for my liking. You must resist applying a lot at first as it will be difficult to spread and blend. Best way is to dot a few all over the face, blend and re apply for more coverage. When I mixed the product with moisturizer, it spreads more smoothly but with less coverage.

Personally, it reminds me of a BB cream. Something half-baked. I am craving for a little more coverage, and a better color match. I do however like it more as a base, topped off with my usual concealer, powder foundation and a setting spray.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
  • If you need light coverage to even out the skintone, lives in a humid / hot environment, or if you want some color to add in your moisturizer, this is a great product to try.
  • Stay away if you need medium to heavy coverage.
  • Best used in conjunction with other products to achieve your skin's needs.
VERDICT: 3/5 kisses

Nice to try but not a must buy. Will not repurchase. Lush is a great source of heavenly soap, bath bombs, moisturizer etc but still in their infancy when it comes to make up.

Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts?

P/S:

I'm still trying to know my way around this site. I hope you can bear with me...
